Dark Sky & Hudmo

This is like a 2 for 1 special, Walmart-style post y'all.

Minimal dubstep and breakbeat group, Dark Sky just released a new EP, Radius. If you remember, I had posted their remix of Crystalised by The xx way back when and here they are again with their big, dark beats, synths and general Britishness. I had originally included all but one of the songs on the four track EP below, but Dark Sky contacted us and made us take the tracks down for download (I've replaced them with their Souncloud versions). If you like what you hear be sure to check out the XLR8R Podcast these guys did last month that you can download here.

Recently, I preemptively posted about Hudson Mohawke's new EP, Satin Panthers. Well it's out, and holy shit. I've posted two of my favorite tracks off of it for you guys to enjoy. So plug your speakers in, (and if you don't have speakers, go out and buy some, I recommend these), turn it up, and brace yourself.

This song has so many layers and styles; it is pure Moanhawke.

Hudson Mohawke Thunder Bay

Cbat was a result of Hud exploring new styles, and was kept on the EP because he liked that it reminded him of the sound a creaky door makes when you open it. Works for me.

Hip-hop producers today have nothing on the beats Mohawke molds out in these tracks; shit gets real. Thursday I head to IDentity Festival DC, so look out for a post about that in the near future.

Cheers!

SAMIYAM

Hello again! I'm sure most of you are familiar with some of the big names on the Brainfeeder label like Austin Peralta and of course, Flying Lotus, but there's one rising star you should def check out if you haven't already heard about him: Samiyam. Maybe I have I thing for DJs and music from Michigan, because this guy hails from Ann Arbor, just like Subvader. Anyways, I saw Samiyam tear it up at the Music Box in LA 2 weeks ago with FlyLo, Teebs, and The Gaslamp Killer. Sam's album, "Sam Baker's Album" came out a week ago and it's sick, some of best hip-hop/glitch hop out there. Check out "Cushion" from the album below:

SAMIYAM - Cushion by BRAINFEEDER

And a SAMIYAM classic, "Fishsticks", turn your speaker up for this one:

So pick up SAMIYAM's album if ya dig it and check out Teebs and other sick Brainfeeder acts. Cheers!
