Fall On Your Sword

I recently discovered the band, Fall On Your Sword after watching the movie, Another Earth, which they did the whole score for. The group is comprised of Will Bates and former guitarist of LCD Soundsystem, Phil Mossman. These multimedia composers and producers released their score of the movie as their first, full-length release. The music is so amazingly epic, looming, cryptic, unusual, and a mixture between electronic and classical compositions. If you liked how Daft Punk married the two, digital and analog in what they did for Tron: Legacy, you'll definitely life these guys. Outside of the original score, FOYS is known as more of a indie-rock band with heavy electronic influences; obviously stemming from Mossman's electro-punk days playing onstage with James Murphy. And in the past few years, there music has been featured in several commercials, art exhibitions and more. The guys even create their own mixed media creations with a film producer. Included below is a mix they made for DFA Radio that includes 70's cinema, iconic science fiction death scenes, seminal mid 90's UK psychedelic techno and original compositions. From the sounds of that, I was definitely digging where these guys were coming from. I think you will too.

Cheers!

P.S. Electric Zoo 2011 starts tomorrow and I don't even know how to mentally prepare, but stay tuned for a festival wrap-up soon after.
